How Did we Get Here?

In shadows cast by moon's soft glow,
I mourn a love I'll never know.
A fleeting dream, a whisper's touch,
A yearning heart that hurts too much.
I wander through the endless night,
Searching for a guiding light.
But all I find are echoes deep,
Of promises I couldn't keep.
The ache within, it pulls me down,
As tears upon my cheeks do drown.
Yet still I hold onto the pain,
For fear that love was all in vain.
So here I'll linger, lost and lone,
Grieving a love that was never shown.
But in this sorrow, I find grace,
And slowly learn to find my place.
